This plant has not looked so full and green in the many years I have watched it grow. While all around leaves are withering, it is unexpectedly lush.
Just wanted to share as I often post images of it here (see March 19, 2024).
Endeavors to support the unique qualities of the park, including its restful pedestrian nature and its 100+ year history.

We also watered the mulch once in place. The small pile shown in this photo will be used up this week.
Thank you again to all those at NYRP, NYC PFP, & NYC Parks and especially the VIP group who made Mulch Day possible during this historic drought!

This Saturday, October 26th, from 9:am to 12 noon, Volunteers for Isham Park is hosting a mulch day for the parks upper gardens. Thank you to New York Restoration Project for suppling mulch!
Find us at the Park Terrace East circle entrance at the west end of the rose garden. Mulch will be delivered there. As soon as it is, we will post a photo here. We will have our wheel barrow and tools at that spot as well.
We will begin with the Isham Family Memorial Terrace Garden and branch out from there. We will also water as we mulch, as it is so very dry after many weeks of little to no rain.
(Construction on the Hurst House, Columbia graduation ceremonies,DOT resurfacing on Seaman Avenue to name a few major traffic issues locally.)
So tomorrow: Saturday May 18, 2024 is now once again: It's My Park Day in Isham Park.
Meet at the Park Terrace East traffic circle entance to Isham Park. 9:00am - 12 noon, we will mulch the new garden & plant flowers the Partnmerships for Parks delivers to us.
A Robin landed on the mulch right after it was delivered! |
Many blooms seem early to Isham Park visitors but it is now officially spring!
